Like any physical activity, there is some risk, but we focus heavily on control, communication, and learning how to train safely. Beginners are guided closely.

No. Participation in class includes access to the training area and restrooms only. It does not include access to the weight room, pool, or gymnasium.

Project 303 Jiu Jitsu is a donation-based nonprofit program. There is no required cost to train. If you are able, monthly donations help our cause drastically. We have operational costs such as uniforms, insurance, marketing, coaches, safety supplies, website hosting/operation, software for our gym management, cleaning costs, etc. All donated memberships go to supporting the costs of our program so we can continue to provide accessible training to our community.

Project 303 Jiu Jitsu operates as an independent nonprofit program and is not affiliated with a traditional academy network. We run our own affiliation, which is accredited through the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
Our coaches are competitive black belts recognized by the IBJJF and SafeSport, bringing both high-level experience and a strong commitment to athlete safety.

No. Competition is completely optional. Many of our students train for fitness, self-defense, and personal growth without ever competing.

Yes, for those who are interested. Competition can be a great way to challenge yourself, build confidence, and apply what you’ve learned in a live setting.

This varies by individual. We will guide you based on your comfort level, consistency, and readiness. There is no pressure to rush into competition.

Yes. If you choose to compete, we will guide you through preparation and support you along the way. We also select specific tournaments to attend as a team, focusing on events we have vetted for organization, structure, and safety. For any team-scheduled competition, a Project 303 coach (and often multiple coaches) will be present to support our athletes.
